Leadership on Campus
At Fuqua you will have both formal and informal opportunities to lead and shape the future of our community. With over 40 student clubs, community service opportunities, professional organizations, and team learning, you will be challenged to lead every single day. While leadership is not limited to the descriptions below, here are some highlights of what your leadership experience can be at Fuqua.
Clubs: When you join Fuqua as a first year MBA student, your first step will be to determine which clubs you want to pursue. Once you find the clubs that appeal to you the most, you can begin to explore leadership opportunities with the cabinets of those organizations. Positions will include: treasurer, director, coordinator, and others which will eventually translate into deeper roles in your second year. Visit CampusGroups to learn more about these clubs.
MBAA: The MBA Association will offer your opportunities to truly contribute to Team Fuqua with roles that include education, community involvement, and serving as liaisons with administration. In your first year you will also have the opportunity to run for section president and to elect of become a part of a section cabinet. In any MBAA role, you will have an active role in shaping the experience of current and future Fuqua members.
Be a leader daily: While your formal roles might include treasurer, executive, director, and alumni coordinator, you will also have many daily opportunities to be a leader with your c-lead teams, in the Durham community, and with members of the overall Duke community. As an MBA you have the power to coordinate efforts, motivate change, and empower people to act. You are a leader of consequence and others will accept you as such.
In short, the leadership opportunities at Fuqua are virtually endless. Your time however, is not. Find the activities that you are most passionate about and that you would enjoy doing the most and pursue them. Be a leader at all times and in all places. You are now a part of team Fuqua; welcome.
